What is home?

Think back to the moment you found your group. Your people. The ones who supported you, pushed you, laughed and cried with you, and made you feel like you belonged.

We find our chosen families in different places and different ways. But none are so important as the ones we find during periods of transition and change.

These experiences define life at Indiana University. They’re how we grow, evolve, and become who we’re meant to be. But when you can’t find your footing—when you can’t find your tribe—the questions flood in. Am I on the right path? Are there really people out there I can relate to? Is this the place for me?

It's in those times, when the outlook seems dark and self-doubt creeps in, that the answers shine through: Yes. Keep going.

You belong here.

More than a slogan

Thousands of people step on IU campuses each year and immediately feel at home. But we don't all have that experience.

Acknowledging that is vital. More important, however, is the work each of us do to make sure our campus is a welcoming, inclusive environment for people of all races, ethnicities, and backgrounds.

That's what the IU is Home campaign is all about. "IU is Home" is more than a slogan on a T-shirt or a social media hashtag. It is both a commitment and a call to action to make Indiana University a campus where inclusion, civility, and respect aren't buzzwords but ways of life.
